‘First phase of K-IV project to be completed by next June’
The first phase of the Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme, known popularly as the K-IV project, will be completed by the end of June next year.
This was stated by K-IV Project Director Asad Zamin, who recently took charge of the project, while speaking to The News at his office on Wednesday. The project’s completion has been delayed for more than four years now because the payment process has remained slow and sometimes there were delays in payment by the federal government, which is responsible for covering 50 percent of the cost, he said. With the completion of the first phase of the project, Karachi will get an additional 260 million gallons per day (mgd), while at the moment it is only getting 650 mgd against its required 1,100 mgd.
