Governor House to host charity dinner on 27th
The Governor House will host a charity dinner on April 27 to raise funds for a network of 160 charitable schools being run by the Green Crescent Trust (GCT) in underprivileged localities of the province, including the suburbs of Karachi as well as Thar.
Governor Mohammad Zubair accepted the proposal for the fundraising dinner after an eight-member delegation of the GCT, led by its CEO Zahid Saeed, recently called on him.
The governor was informed by the delegation that 33,000 students are currently enrolled in the network of charitable schools run by the GCT in the province, and that the charitable trust has been working with the aim to increase the enrolment to 100,000 by the end of 2020.
Zubair said the government certainly requires the support and assistance of bona fide charities and NGOs such as the GCT to improve underprivileged and backward areas in the province such as Thar.
He said that the project being actively pursued to exploit for the very first time the vast coal reserves in Thar for power generation should also lead to transforming the lives of the underprivileged people of Thar.
