Health minister briefed on KTH ongoing projects

PESHAWAR: ?Health Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai on Friday visited the Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) where ?the administration briefed him about ongoing projects.

The projects, some of them were started by the previous Awami National Party (ANP) government, are yet to be completed.

The projects are renovation, repair, beautification and refurbishment, replacement of old heating ventilation air condition system (HVAC) system by a new energy efficient Heating Ventilation air condition system (HVAC) system, construction of new A&E block and purchase of equipment, etc for new A&E block.

The C&W Department officials, consultants, all the directors and managerial staff of hospital were present in the briefing.

The health minister was also briefed that MTI KTH got Rs700 million for renovation, repair, beautification and refurbishment Project, Rs500 million for replacement of old HVAC system by a new energy efficient HVAC System, Rs1317.072 million was approved for construction of new A&E block and Rs2714.000 million was approved for purchase of equipment, etc for new A&E block.

During the briefing about renovation, repair, beautification and refurbishment, the minister was informed MTI KTH reclaimed more than one hundred thousand square feet area of the basement for hospital facilities.

The basement was kind of junk yard, which is reclaimed for hospital services/facilities.

The minister was informed that the area of basement 10,8252 sq ft, ground floor is 50,871 sq ft and first floor is 21,695 sq ft. There will be a provision of 94 rooms for consultants and faculty, it will accommodate 1,000 people in the OPD basement at a time.

A modern 350 bedded newly constructed building of New A&E block will soon be handed over to the hospital for the proper utilisation where all the civil work is completed and the only remaining thing is to supply of electricity from PESCO, health minister ordered that inauguration of the new building will be done in the month of April.
