LAHORE: The Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Saturday informed senior lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan that the fine imposed on him by the apex court for failing to appear in formula milk case had been paid by his son.

During the hearing of suo motu case pertaining to formula milk at the Supreme Court registry in Lahore on Saturday the chief justice remarked that since Aitzaz Ahsan was reluctant to pay fine worth Rs10, 000 the chief justice’s son had paid it. The two-member bench heard the case here on Saturday.

The private company counsel presented sample of the milk in the court. “My son said I will pay uncle’s fine,” Mian Saqib Nisar told Ahsan, adding the paid receipt will be handed over to you.

In the last hearing Aitzaz Ahsan had adopted harsh tone pertaining to imposition of Rs10, 000 fine against him for just one absence from the court. During his absence Aitzaz Ahsan was represented by his assistant who had demanded that the court should adjourn the case hearing for long time.

Aitzaz Ahsan did not pay the fine and appeared in the court for proceeding on Saturday. The senior lawyer said, “Chief justice Sahib you seem in tension.” Upon which the CJP responded negative and asked, “Who told you.”

During the hearing Ahsan informed the court that the company had mentioned on the product ‘The milk’ is only for over six months kids whereas mother’s milk is best supplement for children.

The private company lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan said under the order of the court the company had written on the packet that the milk is only for more than six months children whereas mother’s milk is best supplement.

However, the CJP ordered that there should be clearly mention on the packets that it is not milk otherwise the company will not be permitted to market its product.
