UAE contingent to take part in Pak Day parade

DUBAI: The military contingent of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is going to Islamabad to participate in the Pakistan Day Parade on March 23.

Pakistan’s Defence Attaché Air Commodore Muhammad Akhtar confirmed The News that the UAE military contingent would parade along with their band at the official ceremony in Islamabad.

Currently, the preparations for the March 23 parade are in full swing in Islamabad as it will be the first time that a contingent from the UAE military will parade along with Pakistan armed forces at the official ceremony in Islamabad to mark the 78th Pakistan Day.

Speaking to The News, Pakistan’s Defence Attaché Air Commodore Muhammad Akhtar proudly stated that participation of the UAE military contingent in the Pakistan Day celebrations is a great gesture and an honour for Pakistan.

The parade will be held at Shakarparian Parade Ground, Islamabad on March 23 where Pakistan armed forces will display nuclear-capable weapons, tanks, jets, drones and other weapon systems. The Pakistan Day parade had resumed after a gap of seven years in 2015.

Air Commodore Muhammad Akhtar believed that the UAE’s participation would strengthen the historical bilateral relations between the two countries. “The leadership of the United Arab Emirates gave the clear message to the international community that they are with Pakistan, ” Pakistan’s Defence Attaché further added.
