LAHORE: The late coming to the office has become a routine of most of the officials/officers working in Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), affecting the official work and hampering the procedure of timely solution to the public issues and complaints.

MCL sources revealed that the problem had increased to an extent that Lahore Mayor Mubashar Javed had to issue an official letter directing the MCL officers/officials to reach the office in time. Sources said the problem did not only exist in the MCL offices at Jinnah Hall but it was also in the offices of deputy mayors and town metropolitan offices of all the nine towns in the provincial capital.

Sources claimed that the biometric attendance system was installed at Jinnah Hall as well as all offices of town administrations in nine towns but at various offices this system is not working properly while at some places officers are reluctant to mark their attendence.

The lord mayor issued the warning letter on March 14, 2018, which states, “It has been observed with grave concern that officers/officials have gone in routine to come late into the office. The regular timing are from 8.00 AM to 03:00 PM from Monday to Thursday and Saturday and Friday from 08:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.” It added that all the officers/officials are advised to be present in the office at 08:00 AM sharp and leave as per above-mentioned schedule. In case of field duty, information should be left with the head office/incharge, the lord mayor added and concluded that the offices also work in the second shift and shall make arrangements as per their requirements.
