ISLAMABAD: District and Sessions Court on Saturday reserved its ruling over a plea filed against Babar Awan’s appearance as counsel for Imran Khan in a defamation case.Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is facing a libel suit worth Rs20 billion filed by former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry whom the PTI chief accused of poll rigging.
Earlier, Sheikh Ahsan Uddin Advocate, lawyer for the former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry raised objection that Dr Babar Awan shouldn’t be lawyer of Imran Khan because inquiry was held against him on the orders of former CJP and his license was also suspended in contempt of court.
Sheikh Ahsan Uddin was directed by the court to submit objection over the point that Dr Babar Awan shouldn’t be lawyer in this case under the code of conduct. Dr Babar Awan Saturday appeared before the court and said my junior will submit reply over this objection and leave the court. Sheikh Ahsan Uddin raised the point that junior of Dr Babar Awan are not in a position to submit reply over the objection.
District and Session Judge Tanvir Ahmed conducted hearing and ordered Dr Babar Awan to submit written reply in court on 21 March.
