LAHORE: The death toll in the Raiwind suicide bombing at a police check post rose to 10 after another policeman succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.
The Police sources said the victim, Constable Muhammad Naeem, was shifted to Jinnah Hospital after receiving severe injuries in the blast. The number of police martyrs in the Raiwind terrorist attack reached six after his death.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered for the bombing against an unidentified accused at the CTD Police Station under sections 109/120 B, 427/34, 353/186,302/324 TP, 7ATA/1997 and 3/4 ESA. On the other hand, the funeral prayers of the martyred police officials were offered at Qilla Gujjar Singh Police Lines on Thursday. Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, provincial ministers Ayub Gadhi and Bilal Yasin, Lahore Corps Commander Lt-Gen Amir Riaz, DG Rangers Maj Gen Azhar Naveed Hayat, Lahore Mayor Mubashar Javed, top police officials and others attended the funeral prayers.
Later, the chief minister and the corps commander laid floral wreaths. Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz said the martyrs have given a supreme sacrifice for a greater cause and they would always be remembered.
