A 45-year-old man was found dead at his residence in Buffer Zone on Tuesday morning. By the evening, investigators had arrested the victim’s wife and were on the hunt for her accomplice.

Taimuria police SHO Nawaz Brohi identified the victim as Saleem, son of Rab Nawaz, and said he was found dead in a bedroom of his house in Sector 16-A of Buffer Zone. Elaborating upon the case details, District Central SSP Dr Rizwan Ahmed told The News that the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital MLO’s report stated that Saleem was drugged before being suffocated to death using a pillow.

The SSP said the victim’s brother had accused Saleem’s wife, Aliya, of involvement in the murder. SHO Brohi said the victim’s wife, in her statement to the police, maintained that she had found Saleem dead in his bedroom on Tuesday morning.

He added that the victim had seven children and all of them had said they did not hear any screaming or other unusual sounds in the house. Late on Tuesday evening, investigators confirmed that they had arrested Aliya for involvement in Saleem’s murder.

The officials said Aliya had planned and executed the murder along with an unidentified man, and the duo is believed to be romantically involved. While efforts were still afoot to trace and arrest the unidentified suspect, the police had registered an FIR, No 129/18, under Sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The case has been registered on the complaint of Saleem’s brother.
