LAHORE: A group of over 100 students and faculty members belonging to a private college and a university spent a day out with Pakistan Army troops at Lahore Garrison here on Friday.
The day-long programme was specifically organised for students to sensitise them on security, self-defence and also to enlighten them on operational preparedness of army.
The programme ‘Know your Army’ has been specifically initiated for the youths on desire of Chief of Army Staff. The programme is aimed at enhancing the morale, motivation and confidence of young generation and their armed forces.
The programme started with wreath-laying ceremony and Dua at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. The students went round the Yadgar-e-Shuhada and were fascinated to revisit 68 years of history of valour, sacrifice and commitment of Pak Army for the defence of the motherland.
This was followed by a demonstration by Quick Reaction Force to combat terrorists. They commended the agility and fighting capability of the elements of Light Commando Battalion. The students also witnessed arms and equipment display and participated in small arms fire.
The programme culminated with flag lowering ceremony at Pak-India joint checkpoint at Ganda Singhwala. The students were thrilled by smart turnout and bearing combined with immaculate drills by troops of Pakistan Rangers. They were happy to be amidst highly charged crowd chanting full throated slogans of Pakistan Zindabad that added to their feelings of enthusiasm and patriotism. The students showed keen interest in the programme and commended the sacrifices and resolve of Pakistan Army officers and troops in the ongoing war against terrorism. They applauded the state of morale and professional competence of army and thanked the Army Chief for providing them a lifetime experience and opportunity.
