The Roots School System (RSS), Harley Region, Civil Lines, Adyala, Lalazar and Gujar Khan campuses held their annual sports day by presenting depicting creative and innovative learning ideas and acts in support of young and energetic Rootsians. Students from different classes participated in different games.
The sports gala began with recitation of Holy Quran. The participating teams took the oath to play honestly along with march-past. The school was adorned with colourful buntings and balloons. The ceremony commenced by lighting a make believe Olympic torch by a young student and march-past by different teams depicting themes in colourful head gears and accessories.
Exquisite and creative themes and presentations were demonstrated by young students. The appealing of the extravaganza was children’s confidence and active participation as young athletes, clearly building on their early responsibilities towards their nation and sports skills being cultivated at grass roots level in all branches of Roots Schools.
The event was highlighted with exciting races, including spoon-race, sack-race, relay-race, frog-race, treasure-hunt, three-legged race, tricycle-race, hurdle-race, football and cricket matches. Everyone watched keenly as students performed brilliant karate stunts and gymnastics. A unique ‘musical chair’ competition was held between teachers. The students showcased their multifaceted talents to show their love and support for Pakistan’s cricket team in World Cup 2015. The young students also played a friendly cricket match.
Founder & Chairperson Mrs. Riffat Mushtaq, appreciated the efforts of the young Rootsians and teachers in devising developmental and creative approaches in school curriculum and education. She said, “The ability to go on the field and perform instils a sense of self-confidence, important for the development of a child’s character. Moreover, the sport infuses an ability in children to accept defeat on and yet believe in their own capabilities which cultivates a sense of positive attitude as well”.
The event culminated by the award ceremony where students were awarded trophies and certificates by Mrs. Riffat Mushtaq and the branch heads.
