Only people have right to elect or reject their leaders: Bokhari
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party Secretary General Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari Tuesday said that encroachment of institutions on each other’s constitutional powers had made things worse for the democratic system in the country. “It is only people’s right to choose the government and if they think that any political party was not working for them, they have the right to boot it out through their power of vote,” he said in an informal talk with the media at a reception, hosted by PPP’ Information Secretary Dr Nafisa Shah. He said the clause 5 of Article 239 of the Constitution clearly says: “No amendment to the Constitution shall be called in question in any court on any ground whatsoever.” Speaking on the occasion, PPP Information Secretary Dr Nafisa Shah accused the PML-N and PTI of a fixed match as the agenda of Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan was the same and both were aiming at weakening the institutions of the country.
