Use of chemical string goes unchecked in twin cities
Rawalpindi: With the local police and administration putting in their best efforts to ensure implementation of ban on kite-flying the random incidents of use of deadly chemical string is still being observed in the twin cities.
Mohsin Ali, a local journalist, said he was riding a motor bike on Murree Road when he at once found chemical string cutting the mirror of his helmet on this busiest road. “The chemical string within no time cut the mirror of the helmet and also damaged the skin of my face. But, fortunately, I was able to stop the motorbike and avoid any major harm,” he said.
He said: “It is really surprising to see how the people are able to fly kites with this chemical string despite a ban by both the federal and the Punjab government.” The residents of various areas including Ashgar Mall area, Bagh Sardaran, Banni and Pirwadhai also pointed out that the kites are seen in the sky during the daytime, which is a matter of grave concern about the safety of the people especially bike-riders. “Those who are flying kites with chemical string deserve severe punishment because they play with the lives of the people for their own fun,” they said.
