Colourful sports gala held at GCU
LAHORE: A colorful sports gala of Political Science Department of Government College University (GCU) Lahore was held here at the university’s Oval Ground which was marked by athletics meet, colorful Gymkhana events and cricket matches.
Besides students, the department’s faculty members also participated in the day-long sports events.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah said sports should be widely promoted in educational institutions right from the schools to curb the inclination of youth towards negative and unhealthy activities. He said that it must be declared mandatory for schools, colleges and universities to have ample sports facilities for their students.
GCU Political Science Departments Chairperson, Prof Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt said that his department’s achievements in national and internationals sports events were no less impressive than what they had achieved in academics. He also distributed shields and souvenirs among winners of the different competitions.
The event was also marked by different matches, Girls Chatti Race, Tug of War, Musical Chairs, boys, girls and Faculty members races.
