ISLAMABAD: It will hardly make any difference if former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar makes the DawnLeaks report public now, said PPP stalwart and Opposition Leader in the Senate Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan while talking to The News on Saturday.

Aitzaz reminded that DawnLeaks probe took weeks but Nisar as the then interior minister failed to submit the report within four days despite promise.

“He never fulfilled his commitment to make the report findings public,” he added.

He said Nisar was hurling threats at his mentor Nawaz Sharif since he was aggrieved and ignored.

Aitzaz said he felt pity for Nisar, as he was left out and was now sitting in the feet of establishment, while Maryam Nawaz was sitting in the feet of her father.

“She is flying high, as she is defending her father whatever way possible for her although I don’t agree with her contention. She commands respect of party workers and leaders.”

Aitzaz said the PML-N workers and leaders were watching with a fair amount of interest that Maryam was demonstrating courage and standing by her father in the odds but Nisar was adding to the miseries of his leader.

Disciplined politicians always respect their leadership irrespective of seniority, he said.

“If a leader is accepted by the party leaders and workers, he or she should be acknowledged and respected as leader,” he added.

Citing the example of late Benazir Bhutto, Aitzaz said veterans like General Nasirullah Khan Babar and Aftab Shaban Mirani and others worked under her since she was accepted by the party and was an undisputed leader.

“No one disputed about her leadership in the party by referring to her age. She enjoyed esteem like any other top leader.”

He also referred to Bilawal Bhutto who is leading the PPP despite being too young in the party.

Aitzaz said being an outsider he believed Nisar’s conduct won’t benefit the PML-N in any manner.
