Sindh Minister for Information and Local Bodies Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Monday the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had always given preference and extended help to handicapped workers. He said the PPP was a party of peasants and workers, and after its founder, Zukfikar Ali Bhutto, and chairperson, Benazir Bhutto, the party’s chairman, Bilawal Bhutto, and Co-Chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari was taking forward their vision to serve the masses.
Talking to three handicapped persons who were provided with special motorcycles at ceremony at his office, he said it was a top priority of the Sindh government to provide jobs to the handicapped and resolve their problems all over the province.
Mohammad Sualeh, Bashir Ahmed and Maula Dad had arrived in Karachi from Kandhkot to receive the motorcycles and some cash. They had earlier submitted an application to him in the Sindh Assembly, saying that they needed motorcycles.
The minister said the government was fully alive to the situation and taking various measures for the welfare of such less privileged people.
It was the duty of the government to help each and every person of the province, particularly those who had become handicapped due to some reason, he added.
Memon said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who made the constitution of the country, provided complete protection to the minorities and also fixed a special quota for the handicapped in the constitution. He said the PPP government provided more jobs to handicapped people than their quota allowed.
