Islamabad: The National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) has expressed grave concern over the incident at Kasur where an eight-year-old girl was raped and killed, after she was abducting near her home, says a press release.

Zainab went missing five days prior to her body being found on Tuesday night in a heap of garbage. As per details, the girl was abducted near her home when she was on her way to a Holy Quran class. An FIR was registered on January 4 by the victim’s uncle in Kasur. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the NCSW asked the provincial government should act promptly and arrest the kidnapper. The commission also urged the provincial government to ensure that justice is served and the kidnapper is punished.

It urged the government to address this pressing issue and also put in place a mechanism which ensures that such events are avoided in future. Serious action is required by the government. The commission also requested the media not to air or print the pictures of abused victim.
