LAHORE: More than 100 religious clerics and scholars have demanded the federal government move the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against the US for a case of murder of more than 73, 000 Pakistani civilians and soldiers in the war on terror.
Over 100 religious scholars and clerics, who gathered under the banner of Tanzeem Ittehad-ul-Ummat on Sunday, also demanded the government observe ‘Yaum-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwat (SAW) every year on September 7, besides including the subject of Finality of Prophethood in the subject. Speaking on the occasion, Zia ul Haq Naqshbandi, head of Tanzeem Ittehad-ul-Ummat, said the organisation would observe ‘Khud-daar Pakistan’ Day on January 12 against terrorism, extremism, sectarian violence and special sermons would be delivered in all mosques after Friday prayers. Ziaul Haq Naqshbandi and other speakers on the occasion demanded the government avoid seeking loan from the US in the name of national development and asserted Pakistani nation was capable of living without the US aid. The participants of the conference also vehemently condemned the threats to Pakistan by US President Donald Trump and warned of issuing a religious decree of boycotting the American products. The joint declaration at the end of the conference also demanded that inquiry report of Senator Raja Zafarul Haq regarding constitutional amendment in the clause related to Khatam-e-Nabuwat (SAW) should also be made public. It also demanded the government constitute an ‘Ulema Board’ and only that body possessed the authority of issuing a decree (Fatwa) and stressed that practice of declaring others as Kaafirs or non believers just on the basis of intra religious differences, or in the name of imposition of Sharia should be discouraged. The joint declaration also demanded the government implement National Action Plan in letter and spirit besides continuing its action against militants, terrorists who had nothing to do with Islam. Main speakers of the conference included Khizr-ul-Islam Naqshbandi, Mufti Masood ur Rehman, Mufti Raza Konain, Mufti Syed Ashiq Hussain and others.
Sandhu denies Sarwar's claim: Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Khalil Tahir Sandhu has said that the claim of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Chaudhary Sarwar regarding joining of PTI by PML-N Minority Wing Lahore President Shahzad Bhatti along 100 members of the PML-N Minority Wing was baseless.
He said that he himself was the president of Punjab PML-N Minority Wing, and the person named Shahzad Bhatti had no any relation with the PML-N. He said CM Shahbaz Sharif had issued the notification of president of the Punjab Minority Wing several years ago. He added that CM Shahbaz Sharif would soon issue notification of the Punjab secretary general, and after that, the office-bearers would be nominated in 36 districts of Punjab.
