PTDC arranges tour for SOS children to Mangla Dam

Rawalpindi To promote tourism activities in the winter and tourist flow in different places, on directives of Managing Director Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor Khan, Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has launched the promotion of Winter Tourism. In the first phase, children of SOS Village were toured to Mangla Dam, where they enjoyed boat ride and beautiful surroundings. Media team including print and electronic also accompanied.

Talking to the media on the occasion, General Manager PTDC Ali Akbar Malik said that the efforts of the government have completely established peace in the country and all tourist places are completely safe for foreign as well as domestic tourists. He added that under dynamic leadership of Managing Director Ch. Abdul Ghafoor, PTDC has initiated steps to highlight the awareness of tourism in young generation and promotion of domestic tourism. This visit to Children's SOS village is a link to this regard. This trip has been arrange to facilitate children of SOS as they cannot enjoy tours with family like students of other schools and colleges. PTDC has launched special discounted tour packages for students and families for tourist places and lakes in the different areas of the country, including Khabeki lake and Kallar Kahar.

He told that Chakwal has already been declared as Model Tourism District. City Tour bus service for students and families in Islamabad will be started this month while the PTDC restaurant at Daman-e-Koh has been renovated. The cruise ship for tourists in the Rawal Lake will be started shortly. The online booking system of PTDC Motels has started and they are being introduced with modern facilities. Production of a comprehensive documentary is in final stages, which will be distributed worldwide with the help of Pakistani embassies, airlines and tour operators. A comprehensive tourism strategy is under finalization in consultation with tourism stakeholders to jointly promote tourism in Pakistan.

He further added that with the efforts of Ch. Abdul Ghafoor, MD PTDC, the UN World Tourism Organization Conference is being organized in Islamabad in January 2018, where a number of delegates from member countries will participate. Holding this conference will help in improving tourism in the country as well as improving the impact of Pakistan as a tourist friendly country around the world.
