ISLAMABAD: The guarantor of finance minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, in assets beyond means case, Ahmed Ali Qaddoosi, has challenged the Accountability Court’s (AC) verdict of seizure of his property in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday. Dar’s guarantor has submitted to the high court that there is no element of dishonesty in absence of Dar from the Accountability Court’s hearings, and the order to seize his property is illegal. The petitioner has moved the high court after the Accountability Court declared the finance minister a proclaimed offender and ordered to seize the property of his guarantor. The Accountability Court had ruled in its order that a medical report was filed by the former finance minister to lengthen the case and Dar was maintaining absence on purpose. The judge had further ruled that the federal minister’s guarantor should submit Rs5m within three days or his property would be seized and auctioned off. It should be mentioned here that the guarantor has not submitted the surety money after the granted time has expired.
