A morning light drizzle in some areas of Karachi brought down the temperature on Wednesday morning. People were astonished to see the cloudy weather and light drizzle, which turned the weather cold and pleasant in the early hours of the day. They were also delighted to see rainbows in some parts of the city.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted the mercury would fall further, with the night temperature likely to remain between 9 and 11 degrees Celsius. The areas that received light rain or drizzle included II Chundrigar Road, Sharea Faisal, some parts of Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Defence and SITE. However, Met Department officials termed it a light drizzle and said no rain was recorded in the city.

“The minimum temperature of 11 degrees Celsius was recorded on Wednesday due to the drizzle in the city, but there is no more chance of any drizzle or rain in the city in the coming days,” Karachi Met Director Abdur Rashid said, adding that there were cold nights ahead with the minimum temperature likely to range between 9 and 11 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

He claimed that although the daytime temperature in Karachi would remain normal, the city was heading towards colder nights and predicted that the night-time temperature may drop between 7 and 9 degrees Celsius in the coming days of December and in the month of January 2018.
