Slain doctor laid to rest in Bara

LANDIKOTAL: The doctor, who was killed in Shabqadar tehsil of Charsadda district a day earlier, was laid to rest here on Tuesday.

Dr Khurshid Alam Afridi, an eye specialist, was laid to rest in Swati graveyard in Shalobar area of Khyber Agency. Hundreds of people, including doctors and paramedics from Shabqadar, Peshawar and Khyber Agency, attended the funeral prayers for the doctor.

Khurshid Alam Afridi's car was ambushed when he was returning from his duty at Shabqadar hospital. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has left behind a widow, three sons and daughter to mourn his death.

Meanwhile, Habib Shah and Daud Afridi, the family members of the slain doctor, told The News that they had no enmity with anyone. Habib Shah said they had got registered the First Investigation Report (FIR) of the incident at Pir Killay Police Station.

They said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had failed to provide security to the citizens. They threatened to stage protest outside the Peshawar Press Club and at the Chief Minister's House in Peshawar if the killers were not apprehended within one week. Doctor Khurshid Alam Afridi, hailing from Shalobar area in Bara in Khyber Agency, was serving as specialist at Shabqadar hospital over the last few months.
