Pak Veterans return home after 4-0 win in SL

KARACHI: Pakistan Veterans cricket team has returned home after winning all four matches during their tour of Sri Lanka.

Pakistan recorded a four-wicket win in the last match at the Moratuwa De Soyza Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lankan veterans’ skipper won the toss and elected to bat. The hosts scored 221 before being bowled out in 33.6 overs. Opener Shen Fernando continued to perform well and scored a brilliant century, striking 107 runs off only 89 balls. Fernando had scored 90 runs in the second match. Athula Gijchramaratna scored 31.

Imtiaz Tarar bowled brilliantly, capturing four wickets for 28 runs. Zafar Ali took two wickets for 43 runs. Asim Jah and skipper Fawad Ijaz Khan took one wicket each. Pakistan Veterans chased the target in 31.5 overs with four wickets in hand.

Openers Ghulam Ali and Nadeem Omar provided a 54-run start.However, the best innings was played by Asim Jah for the visitors, who scored unbeaten 76 runs off 52 balls. He hit two sixes and seven fours. Dastageer Butt also batted well, scoring unbeaten 44 runs off 43 balls. Asim and Dastageer shared 122 runs for the seventh wicket.

Ghulam Ali scored 26 runs. For the Sri Lankans, Angelo Disavayaka and Deepal Madurappruma took three wickets each. Imtiaz Tarar was declared Man of the Final match. Dastageer Butt (311 runs) was adjudged ‘the Man of the Series’. Asim Jah (178 runs and 4 wickets) received ‘the Best All-rounder’ award. Fawad Ijaz Khan (nine wickets) was ‘the Best Bowler’. Ghulam Ali (197 runs) received ‘the Best Batsman’ award.
