PML-N taking practical steps, no hollow claims: Shahbaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said Monday unlike the past rulers who were used to of making false promises and hollow claims, the PML-N had taken practical steps for the development of every sector.

Talking to the assembly members, he said the genie of loadshedding had been controlled and the world was astonished over the completion of energy projects in a record period of time. The chief minister said, “The PML-N lives in the hearts of the people because of its record of public service and different steps have been taken for the development of the country.” He said the politics of falsehood had come to an end and the people in next elections would defeat the elements wasting the precious time of the nation.

Separately, the chief minister presided over a meeting at the site office of Lahore Orange Line Metro Train near the University of Engineering and Technology to review progress on the construction.

Shahbaz, who was briefed on the project, congratulated the whole team on the Supreme Court decision that allowed the project and said the PTI was responsible for the delay. “The political elements that created hurdles in this great project will be held accountable by the masses,” he noted, adding that the PTI had given priority to personal interest over that of the people.

“You should double and triple your efforts so as to compensate the delay,” Shahbaz said, adding that Orange Line Metro Train was a project of the whole nation. He congratulated the Pakistani nation, the people of Punjab and especially, the Lahoriites, and promised that the project would be completed with renewed commitment and passion.

In another meeting, the chief minister reviewed in detail the situation of law and order in the province and the progress made on the Safe City Project. During the meeting held at the head office of the Punjab Safe City Authority, he said the Safe City Project had been launched to protect the life and property of the people, using latest technology which was very helpful in curbing the crimes.

The chef minister was told that 95 per cent work on the Safe City Project in Lahore had been completed. Meanwhile, Shahbaz, in his messages, expressed a deep sense of grief and sorrow over the sad demise of former federal minister Malik Naeem Awan and famous writer Masood Ahmad Barkati, who was head of Hamdard Editorial Board and editor of children’s magazine ‘Hamdard Nunehal.  

Separately, he also extended sympathies to the heirs of the workers who died s due to electrocution in the Sunder area of Lahore and directed the administration to provide best treatment facilities to the injured.
