The third Vice Chancellors’ Forum (VC Forum) on ‘Universities in the Islamic World: Facing Global Challenges’ will be held at Serena Hotel, here on February 23 and 24.
The two-day VC Forum is the congregation of the vice chancellors/ rectors/ presidents of the universities /higher education institutions of the Islamic world.
The VC Forum is jointly being organised by the Comsats Institute of Information Technology, Pakistan; Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Pakistan; Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Trainings, Government of Pakistan; Higher Education Commission, Pakistan; Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, Morocco; and the Federation of Universities of the Islamic World, Morocco.
Heads of 180 Muslims countries universities will participate in the Vice Chancellors’ Forum.
The Muslim countries whose universities heads are going to attend the VC Forum include Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Algeria Cameroon, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kyrgyz Republic, Libya, Malaysia, Niger, Nigeria, Sudan, Tunisie, Turkey, Uganda, Yemen, Gambia, Jordan, and other Muslim universities.
Objective of the VC Forum is to provide a platform to the university leaders in the Islamic world in forging linkages for initiating joint academic programs; promoting research; pooling resources; offering scholarships; promoting exchange of students; establishing centers of excellence; and so forth.
In the VC Forum, panel discussion will be held on different topics including, fostering links with community, sustainable higher education systems, sharing of knowledge and fostering collaboration, higher education, innovation and entrepreneurship, international landscape: role of university leadership, higher education: new visions for future, role of higher education in economic revitalisation, mapping international research collaboration-future trends, equality of access and role of women in higher education and in society, and partnering with industry.
Universities heads will also sign memoranda of understanding (MoU) which will open new avenues of mutual cooperation, networking and understanding among the universities.
