Islamabad: Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms has allocated Rs1 billion to bring all 29 Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education across the country at par with Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBSIE).

Out of total allocated amount, Rs500 million has been released to FBISE for upgradation of all boards while the remaining amount would be released next year, said Chairman FBISE, Dr Ikram Ali Malik while talking to this agency here on Sunday.

The FBISE chairman said the amount was released by the government after satisfactory upgradation process and provision of state-of-the-art facilities in the federal board.

Ministry of Planning Development and Reforms has expressed its satisfaction on state-of-the-art project of the FBISE, ‘Modernization and Standardisation of Examination System’ and desired to replicate it for all other Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education of the country through another mega project titled ‘National Education Reforms Initiative’, he added.

He said that FBISE will supervise all the upgradation process of the boards as a focal organisation and FBISE chairman will be Secretary/Member of the project.

However, he said the Federal Secretary for Education would be the Convener of the Project Steering Committee established by the Planning Division, while all education secretaries from the provinces including federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) will be its members.

This project will ensure the transparency in the examination system in the boards due to which the quality of education would be improved, he added.

The objectives of the above said project was to improve quality of examination system, monitoring, control and academic audit of affiliated institutions, trouble free access to various pre-and-post examination services to all stakeholders and standardization amongst various boards of country, he elaborated.

Unfortunately, Dr Ikram said the standard of all educational boards is very low when compared to the international level while educational standard of all boards is also different from each other.
