Mir Muhammad Ali, the main character in the Geo News programme Khabarnak, was given the Extremes of Excellence Award by the Inaya Rehaab Foundation of New York on Friday.
Representative of the foundation in Pakistan, Shamaila Salahuddin, conferred a gold medal on Mir Muhammad Ali along with a brass shield. The whole team of Khabarnak congratulated Mir Muhammad Ali on the auspicious occasion. Shamaila Salahuddin said the Inaya Rehaab Foundation of New York started appreciating performing arts in Pakistan few years back and almost everyone in the Khabarnak team had been honoured. She appreciated the performance of Wajid Khan, Hassan Murad and Sherry Nanha. She said actresses in Khabarnak could do wonders if they were given opportunities like male actors. “Khabarank has evolved from a talk show to a theatre of satire and absurd which was the hallmark of the 17th century England,” she added. She expressed her fondness for the show in which Ali Mir has performed 50 dummies in a go.
Ali Mir thanked Shakeel Siddiqui, the patron of Inaya Rehaab Foundation of New York sister concern of Harris-Ashar Endowments. Harris Ashar has already awarded Ali Mir, Saleem Albela, Hassan Murad, Shoaib Ukasha, Sherry Nanha, Zunera Maham, Sarwat, Mehru Un Nisa and Saira Tahir. Everyone was glad that there is someone to evaluate and appreciate their performances without any bias and prejudice.
