UK high commissioner praises CM for Punjab uplift

UK’s High Commissioner to Pakistan Thomas Drew called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here Wednesday.
They discussed matters of mutual interest including promotion of Pak-UK relations and expansion of bilateral ties in different sectors. The British high commissioner praised Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for improving quality of life and overall development of Punjab.
According to a handout, the chief minister said the UK is a major trade partner of Pakistan and both Pakistan and UK enjoy long-lasting cordial relations. The incumbent government has worked very hard to get rid of the crises. He said Punjab of 2017 is more peaceful, developed and prosperous than before. “We appreciate the UK’s cooperation for development of health, education and skills development sectors. This partnership will be further strengthened in the coming days”.
On the other hand, a high-level Chinese delegation led by Vice Chairman of National Development and Reform Commission of China Wang Xiatao called on the chief minister. The CM said internal and external conspiracies aimed at obstructing the CPEC project are being countered and political and military leadership are jointly striving to make this joint project of prosperity and collective economic development of three continents, a success.
According to another report, the chief minister paid rich tribute to the bravery of Maj Ishaq, who was martyred in an operation against the terrorists in Dera Ismail Khan. He extended sympathies to the bereaved family and said Maj Ishaq has sacrificed his precious life for the country and the whole nation is proud of this great sacrifice.
