Man commits suicide after shooting dead wife, stepdaughter

A 45-year-old man ended his life after killing his wife and a stepdaughter in his house in the Korangi district’s Hassan Jatt Ilyas Goth early on Wednesday morning.
Neighbours woke to gunshots when Ali, son of Atta Muhammad, shot himself in the head after wounding his wife and two stepdaughters, said Ibrahim Hyderi police SHO Nazeer Chandio. He said some residents broke open the door and called the police. Soon cops arrived at the scene and carried the injured persons to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced the man, his wife, Surayya, 37, and 15-year-old stepdaughter Ayesha dead. Another stepdaughter, Rida, 8, was stated to be in a stable condition.
SHO Chandio said Surayya contracted second marriage with Ali six years after her first husband, Safdar, divorced her. Suraiya had two daughters, Ayesha and Rida, from her first husband. Chandio said the couple had an estranged relationship and often exchanged heated arguments.
“On Tuesday night, the couple exchanged heated sentences before going to bed. Later, Ali woke up and committed suicide after shooting his wife and two stepdaughters.” Senior Superintendent of Police Rao Anwaar Ahmed of the Malir district said Ali was a rickshaw driver and used a 30- bore pistol in the horrific incident.
He added that police found the weapon and eight spent bullet casings and sent them to the forensic science laboratory for examination.
Man crushed by train
A 55-year-old man was crushed to death by a passenger train near Qadafi Town in Landhi. Landhi Railway Station police SHO Asad Jamaluddin said the man was trying to cross the tracks when he was knocked dead the train coming from upcountry. No identity document was found on the dead. The body was taken to the Edhi morgue after a postmortem examination at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.  
Mason falls to death
A mason who fell unconscious after falling down the staircase of an under-construction bungalow on Zamzama Street died during treatment at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre on Wednesday. Clifton police SHO Chaudhry Shahid said Javed Iqbal, 25, son of Muhammad Hussain, belonged to Punjab, and the police handed his body to heirs for burial after the completion of legal formalities.
Body in a cardboard
Pakistan Bazaar police found the body of a 55-year-old man inside a cardboard near German School in Orangi Town.
Orangi Town Division SP Abid Ali Baloch told The News that police inspected a suspicious cardboard along a weekly bazaar near the school and discovered the body, which was carried to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a medico-legal examination. The SP said the victim had suffered a deep injury to his head, and efforts were being made to identity the deceased.
