ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah Tuesday advised the government to seek Pakistan Army’s help to end the sit-in at Faizabad Interchange in the federal capital. “As being the opposition leader, I will say that the contact be made with the military leadership and army, as it is a constitutional right of the government to summon the army whenever it is required, and this issue [dharna] be resolved through dialogue,” he said, while talking to the newsmen at the Parliament House. Asked whether he thinks that someone else instead of security forces and army could remove the protestors from the sit-in, the opposition leader said the government has failed to resolve the issue despite that the mistake [in the bill] had been corrected. To another question, the opposition leader claimed that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is responsible for current circumstances and suggested to hold negotiations with the religious parties to solve the matter.
To a question about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, the opposition leader said that he who does not come to Parliament has no right to do politics, adding: “The nation will understand what importance Imran gives to Parliament if he abstains from coming to the National Assembly even today. The rulers could be bad but not Parliament,” he said.
