ISLAMABAD: Italy beat Pakistan 32-20 in a friendly rugby match held Saturday at the Pakistan Sports Complex here.
Pakistan were leading 12-10 at the breather but Italy came back strongly in the second half to win the day.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb was the guest of honour and distributed prizes amongst the teams.
The minister hailed the return of international sports to Pakistan, saying that the playing fields in the country were fast becoming hub of activities.
“I congratulate all those who have organised this rugby match and hope that sports will continue to flourish in the country. Like cricket, Pakistan are hosting international events in all other major sports.
“That is a clear example that the government is making all efforts to see international sports in Pakistan,” she said.
