Two dacoits killed, SHO injured in Okara encounter

OKARA: Two dacoits were killed and an SHO was injured during an encounter near Makki-Madni Town on Okara-Depalpur Road on Sunday.
City B-Division police party along with two dacoits - Asif alias Sunny and Sajid alias Saju – was going to arrest their third accomplice Saeed Oadh. When police reached near the house, outlaw Saeed and others opened fire on them. Police also retaliated. As a result, dacoits Asif and Sajid were killed on the spot while SHO Tahir Waheed was injured. However, Saeed Oadh and others managed to escape. During search of the house, police recovered three motorcycles, a Kalashnikov and a pistol. The injured policeman was admitted to a hospital. The dacoits had allegedly gunned down property dealer Rao Sarfraz.
38 BOOKED: On the report of Tehsil Municipal Administration Enforcement Inspector Khalid Naz, City A-Division police have registered a case against 38 people, including nine shopkeepers, for taking out a rally against the anti-encroachment drive.
Those booked include Ali, Zubair, Tahir, Qazi Imran, Nadeem, Rashid, Adnan and Abid Jillani. During the rally, the protesters reached the official residence of TMO Mian Asghar Ali and damaged the building and its main gate.
