Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has launched two years face-to-face M.Sc programme in TV production to meet the requirement of working journalists and to help further strengthening the professional skill of electronic media.
It is the first time that a public sector institution has launched such a program in a specialized media field. Classes will be held at Islamabad only. Initially 40-students will be enrolled for which entry test will be conducted in line with the HEC prescribed criteria. Later, it would be extended to other cities in light of the feed-back. Eligibility and other detail have been given in the prospectus. Admission form and prospectus can be obtained from the sale points at main campus, Regional Campuses and Coordinating Offices around the country.
In addition, the admissions of Matric to Ph.D level programmes for the Semester Spring, 2015 have also been unlocked. Associate Degree in Commerce with 8-specialisations i.e. Accounting and Finance, Banking and Finance, Hospital Management, Hotel Management, Human Resource Management, IT Management, Marketing Management and Tourism Management and the admissions of M.Sc/M.Phil and Ph.D (Mass Communication) have also been offered.
Merit based admissions includes: Ph.D, M.Sc/PGD Mass Communication, MS/M.Phil, M.Sc Sociology, MA/M.Ed Special Education, MSc/BS Microbiology, M.Sc/BS Chemistry, M.Sc Statistics, M.Sc Mathematics, M.Sc Physics, M.Sc Forestry Extension, COL MBA/MPA, MA/Diploma TEFL and MA/PGD Educational Planning and Management. Applicants of the merit-based programs are required to send admission forms directly to the concerned department without admission fee as per procedure given in the prospectus.
Continuing admission forms have already been dispatched to the continuing students, however, if somehow any of student has not received the said admission form, he/she can download the same from the AIOU website www.aiou.edu.pk and submit in any designate bank branch with fee till due date to avoid late fee charges.
AIOU placed the admissions’ notice both in English and Urdu languages at its website www.aiou.edu.pk from where the candidates can get the detail of offered programmes, schedules for merit based admissions, programmes for Pakistanis in Middle-east, Price of prospectuses, How to obtain and submit the admission forms, instructions for continuing students, address and phone numbers of countrywide regional offices and others. A message of the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui can also be witness from the admissions’ advertisement placed at the University’s website.
