KMU VC wants youth engaged in positive activities

PESHAWAR: Khyber Medical University (KMU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Arshad Javaid has said youth should be engaged in positive activities to discourage negative tendencies.

He was speaking at a seminar organised by the KMU to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

HEC Regional Centres Deputy Director Shafiur Rehman, KMU’s Controller of Examination Col (Retd) Dr Bakhtiar Khan, faculty and students were present.

Dr Arshad Javaid said that it was a matter of pride that the HEC had increased the number of higher education institutions from 59 to 188 during the last 15 years and the number of PhDs has reached 12,000.

The vice-chancellor said it was an encouraging fact that the Higher Education Commission had awarded 2,51,000 scholarships to students of various programmes so far.

Other speakers also highlighted various aspects and achievements of the Higher Education Commission. 

Earlier, Prof. Dr Niaz Ali of IBMS, Dr. Usman Mehboob of IHPE, Dr. Ayesha Imtiaz of IPH & SS, Dr Dildar Ahmad of INS, Director IPM & R Dr. Haider, ORIC Deputy Director Dr. Zohaib, QEC Deputy Director Asiya  Bukhari  and IHPE Coordinator Dr. Brekhana Jamil talked on various topics pertaining to the role of HEC in promoting higher education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
