Two-day Naran Festival attracts tourists

PESHAWAR: The two-day Naran Festival held at Naran valley attracted a large number of local people and tourists, who fully enjoyed the event. Organised by the district administration of Mansehra and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Corporation (TCKP), the local tourists and elsewhere from across the country, students, women and children attended the event held on the banks of Kunhar river. Local nazims, councillors and Deputy Commissioner Shahrukh Khan also attended the festival and praised the organisers for their efforts for providing an opportunity of entertainment to the tourists and locals.

Stalls of different items including, handicrafts, local culture, traditional and fast foods, folk music, tourist information centre, wildlife, play-land and swings for children and other entertaining segments attracted a large number of tourists and students. Musical nights and fireworks were also parts of the festival in which local artistes and singers superbly performed and mesmerised the audience. People enjoyed the fireworks and music. The schoolchildren sang national anthem and songs to mark the Independence Day celebrations with national zeal and patriotism.  An official of district administration said that such festivals were being highlighted to introduce the serene valleys, ensure the access of local and foreign tourists to the beautiful places of the province and create employment opportunities for the locals. He said the feedback received so far was really great. The tourists appreciated the step taken by the district administration and TCKP to hold the gala.
