Affected people reject balloting for alternate plots
Islamabad: The affected people of different sectors of Islamabad have rejected the balloting process for allotment of alternate plots conducted by Estate Wing of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
The affectees present on occasion of the balloting process registered strong protest while raising slogans against the Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development (CAD), Member Estate and Director Estate.
They affectees said the CDA did not follow SoPs recently devised by the authority for allotment of alternate plots to the affected persons. They said the officers’ conducting balloting process deviated from the SoPs and instead of computerised manual balloting was carried out while accusing officials of minting bribe. “The best plots in Sector I-11 were allotted to favourite people,” they accused
Meanwhile, a press release issued by CDA said the authority has allotted 330 plots of different sizes to the affectees of Islamabad in Sector I-11 and I-12. These plots were allotted through balloting which include 60 plots of 25x50 size and 50 plots of 25x60 size, in Sector I-11, 118 plots of 25x50 size and 102 plots of 30x60 size in I-12.
The plots have been allotted to the affectees whose land was acquired by CDA decades ago. The allotment of plots has been made through manual balloting by the committee constituted under the new SOPs introduced on the directions of Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz.
The committee was supervised over by Member Estate, CDA, Khushal Khan. On this occasion, Director Land, Deputy Commissioner CDA, Additional Director Estate Affectees and a large number of affectees of Islamabad and representatives of media were also present.
Manual procedure was adopted for balloting, under which one box was used for names of affectees and the other box was used for plot numbers. Mayor of Islamabad and CDA Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz said that the present regime has introduced a very effective system for allotment of plots adding that under the new SOPs, merit and transparency would be ensured. He said that genuine persons would get their rights under the new SOPs adding the past regimes have neglected the problems of affectees while no development was made in the sectors opened for affectees of Islamabad.
