As crime continues unabated in the metropolis, four men were shot in different areas of the city on Tuesday for resisting robbery attempts.

As per details, one of the incidents was a house burglary and the suspects were aiming to steal the family’s sacrificial animals. The robbery was reported in Sector E of Saeedabad and officials said the suspects broke into the house in the wee hours of the day.

Saeedabad police SHO Abdul Ghafar Korai said four armed men scaled the walls of the house and were looking to make away with the animals when members of the family woke up. As per the officer, the family members pelted stones at the suspects in a bid to scare them off.

The robbers, though, refused to give up and opened fire at the family members. Two members of the family, identified by the SHO as Imran Ali, 30, and his younger brother Irfan Ali, 28, suffered bullet injuries and were rushed to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for treatment. Of the two, Imran was shot in the shoulder while Irfan sustained a bullet wound in one of his legs. Both brothers were, however, out of danger.

Another mugging incident was reported near the main cattle market on Super Highway. As per police officials, the victim was a 30-year-old man, Imran, who was shot for resisting the robbers’ demand to hand over cash and his mobile phone.

Sachal police SHO Shakir Ali said Imran had just arrived at the cattle market to purchase sacrificial animals when he was held up by four robbers on two motorcycles. The officer said the robbers ordered Imran at gunpoint to hand over his cash and phone but he tried to resist their demands. Consequently, the muggers opened fire at Imran at close range and made away with his cash and valuables, leaving the victim injured at the scene.

The SHO also clarified that the incident did not take place in his station’s limit and the jurisdiction of the incident was still disputed. The day’s third robbery incident was reported near Yousuf Plaza in the Water Pump area. Police officials identified the victim as 22-year-old Farhan..

The suspects ordered Farhan to hand over his mobile phone and wallet, and as he hesitated, the robbers opened straight fire at him. The suspects then managed to escape with his valuables and Farhan was later rushed to a hospital for treatment.
