PESHAWAR: The members of the transgender community on Monday condemned the killing of a colleague in Nowshera district and demanded protection.

As per the police report, a transgender named Adnan was killed in Nowshera last night.

An official said that as per the preliminary inquiry, the transgender had friendship with the accused and had gone with him and his friend. The police said the friend allegedly shot dead Adnan over some dispute.

The police said that accomplice of the accused surrendered to the police and informed the cops about the incident. The police later arrested the accused as well.

The transgender community leaders Laila Khan and Farzana Jan condemned the killing and demanded the government to bring the accused to justice.

Taimur Kamal, a human rights activist, said the police and government expressed sympathies with the transgender community at such occasions but didn’t take steps for protection of transvestites.
