PESHAWAR: Holding Pakistani flags and dressed in clothes with the national flags printed on them, the transgender community on Sunday cut cakes as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
Two groups of the transgender community held separate cake-cutting ceremonies at the Peshawar Press Club and shemales in large numbers participated in it. It was the first time that the transgender community held Independence Day ceremonies so openly.
The first ceremony was organised by Farzana, head of her own group. The second ceremony was arranged by Laila, president of her group of the community.
Talking to The News, Laila said that it was for the first time that they held the ceremony in public and before media.
