Punjab Police to observe ‘Youm-i-Shuhada’ on August 4
LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Capt (r) Arif Nawaz directed all RPOs and DPOs of the province to observe August 4 as “Youm-i-Shuhada” (police martyrs’ day).
He was addressing a meeting at Central Police Office (CPO) on Monday. The IGP praised Information Technology projects including Hotel Eye, Local Eye, Welfare Eye and the software being used to check the security of sensitive buildings. He said that modern technology was helping capacity building of police and all district should follow the IT initiatives of Lahore police.
He also visited Defence-A police station to check operation of front desk established across the province aiming to change police culture. He also praised the establishment of front desk and also got information about the number of visitors and complaints. The front desk had played an important role in minimizing the distance between police and public.
He also said that the software which was being used to monitor the security of important buildings should also be given to other districts. The IGP directed all regional and district police officers to observe “Youm-i-Shuhda Police” in their respective areas and all the families of the martyrs should be called and assurances should be given to them that they were not alone.
Additional IG finance Shoaib Dastgir, Addt IG operations Mohsan Butt, DIG headquarters B. A Nasir, DIG operation Aamir Zulfiqar and others were present in the meeting.
