LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday said the claimants of Naya Pakistan were defiling the old Pakistan. He said Imran Khan had hatched a deep conspiracy against prosperity and well-being of the people through sit-ins and lockdown; however, the people had failed the plot with the power of unity.

“The party of this politician, levelling baseless allegations, has been defeated in every election [and he] as a politician, setting the world record of lies, just cannot deceive the nation. The elements claiming of making a new Pakistan are even defiling the old one,” the chief minister said.

“It is a sheer joke with the nation to talk about accountability by standing beside squatters and the ones who have got their loans waived-off. These elements are a partner in the conspiracy hatched to ruin the destiny of the nation,” he added.

These elements, he said, put the national interest at stake just for the sake of coming into power and had badly damaged the national economy. “The conscious people are fed up with the negative approach and anarchic politics of the politician who is an expert of lies,” said Shahbaz in a statement.

“Politics is the name of public service rendered with honesty and sincerity. The politicians, who are devoid of public service, are trying to revive their politics through allegations and deceitfulness,” read the statement.

“But the faces of these so-called politicians, who are trying to impede the development process in the country, have been fully exposed and conscious people are fully aware of the conspiracies hatched against national economy and development process,” it added.

The chief minister said the elements obstructing the development process were not loyal to the nation and the conspiracy of Imran and his cabal would never succeed. The poor people of Pakistan would never forgive the PTI leadership for obstructing the development process, he added.

The chief minister said Nawaz Sharif was a popular leader who lived in the hearts of the people. Pakistan witnessed unprecedented development during the tenure of Nawaz and changing the country’s destiny through the PML-N had unnerved the rival politicians, he added.

Shahbaz said the tenure of Nawaz was represented public service, honesty, transparency and trust. The mega projects being completed in across the country were providing relief to the people and thus had frightened the opponents, he added.

He vowed that the journey of development would move ahead with an accelerated pace and those opposing the process were set to face defeat in the next general elections as well. The chief minister said selfless service of the people was the mission of PML-N and it had helped raising the people’s quality of life. “During the last four years, public-welfare projects have been completed with transparency and speed despite obstructions,” said Shahbaz.

“Our life and death is with the people and the PML-N will also succeed in the next elections because of its immaculate performance. The politicians having negative approach lack the spirit of public service. The sit-in party repeatedly tried to ruin the destiny of poor people and the head of sit-in party will be remembered as the mastermind of deceit, allegations and negative politics,” the statement said.
