Notices issued in PR illegal appointments case

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the respondents, auditor general of Pakistan and ministry of railways on a petition challenging illegal appointments in law and finance department of railways. 

Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza ordered the respondents to file their replies within four weeks. The respondents in the petition included Railways Minister Kh Saad Rafique, finance ministry and the auditor general of Pakistan. Petitioner counsel Sheraz Zaka submitted that illegal appointments had been made in the ministry based on political influence

 

and nepotism. He alleged that incompetent persons were appointed on key posts. He alleged that such appointees had been exercising their powers illegally and had become a burden on taxpayers’ money. He said according to the audit report of auditor general of Pakistan, these appointments were illegal. He requested the court to declare all such appointments illegal and restrain the respondents from making all such recruitments.
