ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders said on Wednesday that the voters would foil the conspiracies of ousting the prime minister.

They said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was not coming to the Supreme Court because he was afraid of being arrested. While talking to the media outside the Supreme Court, Abid Sher Ali slammed PTI chief Imran Khan while calling him a born liar and fraud. He said why Imran Khan was not coming to the Supreme Court if he considered himself so brave.

Abid Sher alleged that Imran Khan was a proclaimed offender and was afraid that he would be arrested if he came to the court. “The people like Khan always stay in hiding and clandestinely attack their opponents,” he said. The minister also lashed out at Imran Khan’s father and called him a ‘legitimate thief’. “Imran’s father did corruption. He stole money from Pakistan’s institutions and was convicted for corruption and theft by the court,” alleged Sher Ali.

He went on to say that Imran Khan studied in the Oxford University from the money earned by corruption. He also criticised the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report and said that it was basically the words and statements spoken by Imran Khan. “JIT’s report is ‘Imran Nama’ and we will reveal it in the court. We will not allow ball tampering in democracy,” he said.Sher Ali said that Wajid Zia paid money to his relative. He warned that coffins of liars would emerge from the Supreme Court.

He criticised Babar Awan for filing a reference against Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. “Babar Awan, the thug of Nandipur, filed a reference against CM Shahbaz,” he said.Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman said that there were severe allegations against chairman of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) Wajid Zia that he had privately hired his cousin’s law firm in Britain to probe the Panama Papers case.

The minister claimed that the law firm approached by the JIT was non-existent. That company had not done anything in the past one year.“The question is that who will give clarification regarding these allegations. The JIT chairman must come forward with a reply now,” she added.

She further mentioned that “A huge sum of 49,000 British Pounds have allegedly been paid to a private company on the basis of mutual assistance. A clarification is also needed on this.”Anusha Rahman asked, “Will another JIT be formed to probe these allegations against the Panama JIT?”

She further remarked that Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would remain the prime minister even after 2018 and 2023 general elections. The minister said the JIT went beyond its limit during the investigation and it used insulting language.

“There is no truth in the JIT report and it is nothing but trash,” she added. She asked as to who allowed the JIT to video record the proceedings and who allowed it to monitor the Prime Minister’s House. She said the JIT also misled the court in the case of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and prepared a malicious report against him.
