Four men, including three robbers, were killed in shootings during two burglaries in the city on Wednesday, police said.

Two alleged robbers were gunned down by Korangi Industrial Area police when the suspects were making off with valuables they had looted from a cop’s house in KDA Employees Society.

Korangi SSP Nauman Siddiqui said the robbers had barged into Constable Kashif’s house for looting, but a resident of the town called police and the house owner and informed them about the incident.

A heavy contingent of police encircled the house, but the burglars opened fire when they came out of the house. The police retaliated and killed both of them. SHO Pervez Gujjar said the bodies were carried to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem examinations. He said the identities of the robbers could not be ascertained immediately.

Separately, two men, including a robber, were killed and a man suffered bullet injuries in a burglary at Chandani Chowk in Orangi Town’s Sector 11½. SHO Iqbal Tunio of the Iqbal Market police station said three men entered a house and were trying to hold the family hostage when a male member overpowered one of the robbers. His brother tried to overpower another robber when the third one fired gunshots.

Three shooting left both brothers and a robber injured. The other two robbers managed to flee. Later, police attended the scene and took the injured to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where one of the brothers, Mohammad Aqib, 25 and the unidentified robber succumbed to their wounds. Aqib’s brother, Asif, was under treatment.
