A kidnapped employee of a multinational firm was rescued in Dera Murad Jamali, Balochistan, police said on Saturday.
Five people were arrested in this connection in various districts of Sindh and Balochistan.
The spokesperson for the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee said 45-year-old Mohammad Hussain, the area sales manager of pharmaceutical company, Bayer, was kidnapped on January 6 while travelling from Sukkur to Larkana.
The kidnappers had demanded the release of their arrested associates for the sales manager’s freedom.
The CPLC and Sindh police conducted joint raids and initially three people were arrested.
Later, the CPLC and the SSP Sukkur expanded the operation to Jacobabad and Balochistan and rounded up two more suspects.
The kidnap victim was finally rescued in a raid conducted in Dera Murad Jamali without conceding to the abductors’ demand or payment of ransom.
The man keeping the sales manager in captivity was also arrested. “Raids are under way to apprehend the remaining culprits,” the CPLC spokesperson said.
