KARACHI: The motor gasoline sales of Pakistan State Oil (PSO) surged over 100 percent in Quetta as the provincial capital and adjoining areas are facing a fuel shortage.

“PSO’s outlets in Quetta experienced a sudden surge in the influx of customers these past three days due to unavailability of fuel in the city and sales rose by nearly 100 percent,” a statement said.

It was known that all other oil marketing companies (OMCs) were unable to supply motor gasoline to Quetta due to some logistics constraints and all fuel stations other than those of PSO ran dry.

“PSO has sufficient stock of petroleum products available to meet the demand and there is no shortage of fuel at PSO outlets in Quetta city,” the statement added. Certain quarters blame Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) of inefficiency, as the regulator should have taken the measures to avoid fuel scarcity.
