MUZAFFARGARH: Police arrested MNA Jamshed Dasti in another case on Friday after he was released on bail from Central Jail Dera Ghazi Khan.
DSP Saddar Irfan Butt confirmed the arrest of Jamshed Dasti. Earlier, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) had granted him bail in a case registered by the Irrigation Department.
The MNA from Muzaffargarh’s NA-178 constituency had filed an application in the ATC for grant of bail. Dasti and Meharbpur Union Council (UC) Chairman Malik Ajmal Karlo were arrested on June 9 by the Punjab Police for forcibly opening a canal on May 28.
The Irrigation Department had lodged a case against the MNA. On June 9, the two were presented in the duty magistrate’s court. They were then shifted to Central Jail Multan on judicial remand.
Opposition leader Khursheed Shah had requested the National Assembly speaker on June 10 to issue a production order for Dasti. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Shah Mehmood Qureshi was barred from meeting Dasti when he went to Central Jail Multan to meet him on June 10.
