Children’s Hospital block opens today

LAHORE  Newly-built extension block of Children’s Hospital is being inaugurated today (Saturday).

This block built at the cost of Rs2.5 billion has 600 beds and 16 operation theatres on its premises. Latest biomedical equipment and other best health facilities have been provided in this state-of-the-art hospital.

Children’s Hospital Dean Prof Masood Sadiq and Medical Director Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore said that by adding 600 beds and 16 operation theatres, the total bed strength of the hospital reached 1,050 and this hospital has become the largest children’s hospital in the world where all the surgical and treatment facilities from PEADS Cardiac Surgery to cancer treatment are available under one roof. 

Meanwhile, Punjab Minister for Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique along with Secretary Health Najam Ahmad Shah visited the newly-constructed extension block of the hospital and reviewed the arrangements for inaugural ceremony.

On this occasion, Kh Salman Rafique said the idea of this hospital was conceived during the PML government and construction on the project was started in the PML-N government in 1988 and today the project has been completed again in the PML-N government according to the vision of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Institute of Child Health Dean informed the secretary health that children are coming to this hospital from across the country and this hospital is providing best treatment facilities to them free-of-cost without any discrimination. Prof Masood Sadiq disclosed that bone marrow transplantation would also start in this hospital from August 2017.
