Zubair says Karachi is prime beneficiary of prime minister’s policies
Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair has said the federal government has been working to resolve issues of transporters on a preferential basis, besides providing them with the best facilities to continue with their business activities.
He stated this at the Governor House on Wednesday when he met a 10-member delegation comprising representatives of inter-city bus owners, goods’ transporters and oil tankers’ owners’ associations. Captain (retd) Asif Mahmood led the delegation.
He said Karachi had become the prime beneficiary of the economic policies of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would benefit the provincial capital most because it had two harbours.
The governor added that the procurement of the latest technology and the development and infrastructure were the foremost items included in the manifesto of the federal government.
The government had been engaged in the process of building swift and modern means of communications in the country for trade, economic and social progress of the country. He said that in this regard projects like the Green Line section of the Bus Rapid Transit Service and the M-9 section motorway were being constructed for providing modern public transport and travel facilities to the people.
The governor further stated that operators of inter-city buses, oil tankers and goods’ transporters were like the backbone and mainstay of the economy as the role of transporters in the economic progress of the country could not be denied.
He said the progress and development of Karachi meant the progress of the entire country and the federal government had been doing its best to give prominence to the metropolitan city on the world economic map.
Zubair said work was being done on a preferential basis for the restoration of infrastructure. He said transporters had always played an important part in socio-economic progress of the country through speedy transportation of goods to and from the industrial zones.
He said the resolution of the issues of transporters related to different sectors would ensure progress and development of the economy and industries. The delegation informed the governor about the issues of transporters related to the Sindh Revenue Board, Pakistan State Oil, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and other agencies.
The delegation thanked the governor for listening to all of their issues patiently and offering support and mediation with the government authorities to get their problems resolved at the earliest. They were of the view that a similar vision was required by every state authority to serve the nation in the best of manner.
