Kashmiri leader remembered in Sharjah

SHARJAH: A condolence reference was held in Sharjah where many Kashmiri leaders from various political parties; intellectuals; media persons and others paid rich tributes to Kashmiri leader Sardar Aftab Khan who passed away recently in Rawalpindi. 

Speakers highlighted the deceased leader’s sacrifices and struggle for the cause of Kashmir and his peerless contribution towards the liberation of occupied Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front UAE chapter organised the condolence gathering at a local hotel of Sharjah.

Remembering the memories of Sardar Aftab with tears in his eyes, senior leader of JKLF Advocate Sardar Anwar said that he devoted his entire life to create awareness among the masses about the real meaning of freedom. While talking to The News, Sardar Anwar described him as a legend who led the nation through his honesty, modesty, and sincerity.

Qamar Rahim, writer of the book ‘Journey of Freedom’ also said that Sardar Aftab demanded the right of self-determination for the people of Kashmir and Khan’s demise has left a great void that cannot be filled.

Leader of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf Azad Kashmir Raja Rashid lauded the selfless efforts of Sardar Aftab. He said the late leader was a high class intellectual, a great patriot, a teacher, a political thinker who had become so dear to them that the Kashmiri people could not keep crying on his death.

Speakers including Khalid Kashmiri, Sardar Ayaz, Niaz Kashmiri, Shabir Mughul, Sardar Abid and Bhasarat Shirazi not only lauded the political struggle of the deceased but also demanded the international community to take effective notice of worsening human rights situation in Srinagar. The participants of the meeting on the occasion offered Fateh for the departed soul and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.
